Click! USA; no less - not some banana republic - could shutdown just like that. Come Oct 1, 2013, it sounds more fair-weather and probable than the street corner mom and pop grocery store.
While any worker could be fired for such a performance, the elected representatives looks like are elected to do precisely that, drama, at the taxpayers expense. They may have best interests of the nation in their hearts but this is hurting.
Looks like while the right and left point fingers at each other as they please, and show each other and of course collectively as a nation in the bad light, sadly the worker on the Main Street won't be a happy camper.
BTW- Was reading up some guidance stuff and realized, that, federal workers risk anti compliance for simple things like checking email during shutdown.
Probably government issued phones and smart phones have to be switched off?
Will the OPM site publish updates progressively and stay current with further guidance if they don't access email or phones ?
Btw, Is opm.gov deemed essential service?
Or will a manager need to call from his personal phone to contact you (a generic worker bee, silly!) ?
